Had a GPS try to get me to drive into the ocean in Eastport, Maine last summer. It didn't "know" that the ferry was seasonal and wasn't running yet. Know where you're going and the general route, then use GPS as an additional tool.

If I'm stuck in coach again as I was for 18 hours from Johannesburg to Atlanta. I'll take a cushion to relieve pressure on my coccyx. My tail was really sore by the time we landed due to the thin, thin seat cushions. A good place to find out what does and doesn't work is

A GPS is a nice auxiliary but not a substitute for being familiar with where you're going. I had a GPS in Maine direct me to drive into a bay because it didn't know the seasonal ferry hadn't begun to run.

The terms "common sense" and "male" are oxymorons. My son, who is a firefighter/paramedic, has worked 4 ATV accidents with 5 fatalities in the last 5 years--and that's just the fatalities. One boy hit a tree so hard the bark left an imprint on his skin.

Went to Japan & back by ship as a kid. Learned to love the ocean. The entertainment you can get on land. Why go to sea & then ignore it?

Too bad you can't post attachments to this. The article says not to put anything larger than your elbow in your ear. I took a photo in Kenya last month in the Masai Mara Preserve of a bull elephant walking along cleaning its ear with its trunk. Trust me, it's larger than my elbow.
